About Mr Cathcart

Mr Paul Cathcart is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, where he was appointed in 2015. He brings over fifteen years of consultant-level experience to his practice, having held a previous consultant appointment at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) from 2011.

He is one of the United Kingdom's most experienced robotic prostate surgeons, having performed over 2,000 robotic prostatectomies across his career and continuing to perform around 200 each year. His particular expertise lies in nerve-sparing prostate cancer surgery, a technique that aims to preserve continence and sexual function while achieving optimal oncological outcomes.

Mr Cathcart also runs a specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) clinic dedicated to the management of recurrent prostate cancer, including salvage robotic radical prostatectomy — a technically demanding procedure offered at only a small number of centres nationally.
