A World-Leading Authority in Urological Oncology

Professor Mark Emberton OBE is one of the most distinguished academic urologists practising in the United Kingdom. He holds the Chair of Interventional Oncology at University College London (UCL), where he has led ground-breaking research into the detection, surveillance, and minimally invasive treatment of prostate cancer. He was appointed Dean of the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences from 2015-2025 where he led both education and research in the areas of Cancer, Surgery, Dentistry, Infection and Immunity and General Medicine.

Professor Emberton's team were responsible for designing and conducting the pivotal studies that led to prostate MRI being adopted around the world. He also pioneered image-guided biopsy via the perineum and has led the way in providing both the evidence and the leadership that led to the introduction of new minimally invasive and better tolerated treatments known as focal therapies.
