About Mr Gabriel
Mr Joseph Gabriel is a consultant urological surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. He holds consultant appointments at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
He is one of a relatively small number of UK surgeons trained in both robotic prostate cancer surgery and focal therapy, enabling him to offer patients a tailored approach based on their diagnosis, individual circumstances and treatment priorities.
Clinical Practice
Mr Gabriel specialises in robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. This includes the Retzius-sparing approach, an advanced surgical technique associated with improved early urinary continence outcomes following surgery.
Having trained in focal therapy as part of the Imperial Prostate group, he also offers minimally invasive treatments including HIFU and cryotherapy. His experience across both robotic surgery and focal therapy allows him to help patients consider the full range of appropriate treatment options and receive care tailored to their individual diagnosis.
Alongside his specialist prostate cancer practice, Mr Gabriel provides investigation and treatment for a broad range of urological conditions. Procedures he performs include:
- Cystoscopy
- MRI-fusion and other prostate biopsies
- Transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT)
- Ureteroscopy and laser stone fragmentation
- Circumcision
- Vasectomy
- Hydrocele repair
- Epididymal cyst excision

He completed his surgical and specialist urology training within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery, gaining experience at regional robotic urology centres in Eastbourne, Canterbury and Brighton.
