Does my child need a GP referral?

No. A GP referral is not required to book a private consultation at London Urology Specialists, and you are welcome to contact us directly to arrange an appointment. If you plan to use private medical insurance, however, most insurers require a GP referral before authorising a consultation or treatment. We recommend checking your policy requirements with your insurer before booking. We are also happy to accept referrals from GPs, paediatric urologists, or other hospital consultants. Wherever your child has been receiving care, we will work closely with their existing medical team to ensure continuity of care and a smooth transition where appropriate.

Will my teenager be seen in a child or adult setting?

Our clinic provides a sensitive, age-appropriate environment for adolescent patients. Consultations take place in a private adult clinic setting, but our approach is specifically tailored to the needs of younger patients. We understand that teenagers may feel anxious or embarrassed, and we take extra time to ensure they feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit.

What happens during the first appointment?

The first appointment typically lasts 30 minutes. Mr Noah will review your child's full medical history, including any previous paediatric records available and surgical history (we simply ask that you provide these before the appointment). A physical examination may be performed if appropriate, and relevant investigations such as blood tests, urine tests, or imaging may be arranged. A clear management plan will be discussed and agreed with both the patient and their parents or carers.

Can parents attend the consultation?

Yes, parents or carers are welcome to attend the consultation. For younger adolescents, parental involvement is encouraged. For older teenagers and young adults, we will respect the patient's wishes regarding who is present during the consultation. Part of the appointment may involve speaking to the young person privately, which is standard practice in adolescent healthcare.

Your child will meet with Mr Anthony Noah for a relaxed, comprehensive consultation to discuss their symptoms, medical history and any previous treatments or investigations. Parents and carers are welcome to attend, and there will be plenty of time to ask questions and discuss any concerns.

If further assessment is required, Mr Noah will recommend the most appropriate investigations, which may include imaging, urodynamic studies or blood tests. He will also review previous medical records and, where appropriate, liaise with your child's GP, paediatric urologist or referring specialist to ensure continuity of care.
